Janet has been an educator for over thirty years having served as a teacher, guidance counselor, Supervisor of Special Initiatives, Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, and Curriculum Specialist for the South Carolina Department of Education. She has worked in Oconee County, Orangeburg School District Five, Richland School District One, Orangeburg School District Four, and Calhoun County Public Schools. She is dedicated to the individual development of each student and his or her preparation to become a productive citizen. This includes ensuring that each receives excellent instruction in the classroom and guidance to help open every possible avenue for future success. Janet is married to Martin Gilchrist. Her son, Martin, is married to an educator and she is looking forward to the birth of a granddaughter in November 2012.
