Motto:  Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish, he will eat for a lifetime.

My name is Marguerite Hubbard.  I was borned and raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina I am a graduate of S.C. State University with a major in Biology and a minor Chemistry. I have been a classroom teacher for 31 years. This is my 10th year at Calhoun Couinty High School.  I have also taught at Orangeburg- Wilkinson High School for several years and at Burke High School in Charleston, SC.

My hobbies are reading, decorating, shopping and patronizing yard and garage sale.  I am also skilled at setting up the food table for various events

I enjoy helping students learn and develop science skills that will help them be successful in both the academic and professional world. I believe that all students can succeed at their academic work if they are willing to put forth the effort.  I believe that teaching is a profession in which the educator has many opportunities to apply her knowledge of content area, personal strengths and creativity, and her life skills to the tasks at hand on a day to day basis. This I plan to do by teaching my students to become independent, critical thinkers who can solve problems that they encounter.

I have one goal for my teaching and that is to helping students to think and learn for themselves

To me, education is the means by which a student gains the tools for a successful future. Through education,  I believe that learning can be done in many different ways.  However, it takes a strong blend of certain personal characteristics and instructional techniques to become an effective teacher.

Teaching is not only teaching facts, but also teaching life skills. Education teaches students discipline, responsibility, and many other soft skills in t. As a teacher, I hope to instill these skills in my students.  Education should allow students to fully understand and discover themselves, in addition to giving them the ability to survive in the real world.

As a teacher I I really believe in this philosophy and as a teacher I will try my best to live up to live up to these expectations.
